The First of October

I've decided to enclose the lyrics to a song I wrote recently, with piano, for my Year 12 Graduation Assembly, as a farewell gesture to my friends at SCAC. Of course, the words are a lot more meaningful when played along with the music, and in the right context. I hope you'll use your imagination wisely...

The First of October

V1
No, I don't want to close my eyes
Coz I don't know if I'll feel respite
For these feelings, this burning, the emptiness I face
Without you here.

V2
Let your thoughts unwind,
Fond memories you will find
Along the way, you've forgotten yesterday,
But you cannot pause the inevitable
Nor the hands or time,
Least of all when you want it to...
Least of all when you want it to... slow down

CHORUS:
I'm caught in this moment now,
And I'm struggling to see how I'll cope without,
But I know things will have to change
I know things will have to change
I know things are going to change...

V3
Doors may close on you and windows open
Wide for something new, and ignorance won't do
Coz you cannot pause the inevitable
Nor the hands of time,
Least of all when you want it to...
Least of all when you want it to... slow down!

CHORUS:
I'm caught in this moment now,
And I'm struggling to see how I'll cope without you
But I know things will have to change
I know things will have to change
I know things are going to change...
(BRIDGE)
In a minute, in a moment, give me more time.
In a minute, in a moment, give me more time.
In a minute, in a moment, give me more time.
In a minute, in a moment, for the last time...
